Under the provisions of the Children Act 2004 the Council is under a duty to ensure that its functions are discharged with regard to the need to safeguard and protect the welfare of children.
As such the Council is committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of all children to whom we provide services directly or indirectly and with whom we come into contact. How we go about this is set out in our the Chiltern and South Bucks Child Protection Policy.
Concerned about a Child?
The Council is not responsible for investigating child protection concerns. If you are a member of the public and If there is immediate risk of harm to a child, call the Police on 999
If you are concerned about a child in Buckinghamshire, it is important that you talk to someone about this. Don't ignore your concerns or delay taking action.

- You can contact the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000 (free service, lines open 24 hours a day)
If you are a child suffering from neglect or abuse you can call Childline on 0800 1111
Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Children Board
In Buckinghamshire the co-ordinating role for safeguarding children rests with the Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Children Board.
