Changes to recycling sites in Chiltern District
We're making changes to some of the recycling sites in the Chiltern District.
From 5th August 2019, five recycling sites will be closed and three will offer a different service.
All the recycling that would have been taken to these sites can be put in residents' normal household containers for collections as we now run an enhanced domestic collection service.
We will collect additional recycling that doesn't fit in the household recycling bins. This includes larger cardboard boxes, provided they are flattened and presented neatly alongside your container on collection day.
From week commencing 5th August, the following recycling sites will be closed;
- Blizzards Yard car park, Chalfont St Giles
- Cameron Road, Chesham
- Church Lane car park, Chalfont St Peter
- Rickmansworth Road, Amersham
- Water Meadow car park, Chesham
At the following sites, the banks will be removed and replaced with new large wheeled bins for domestic paper and cardboard only:
- High Street car park, Prestwood
- Link Road, Great Missenden
- Snells Wood car park, Little Chalfont
Cllr Caroline Jones, Chiltern District Council Cabinet Member for Environment, said: "As a council we have to adapt to the changing needs and demands of our residents to ensure we are always providing the best possible service in the most efficient and effective way.
"This decision has been taken following discussion with local councillors and residents and visits to the recycling sites to assess how they are currently used. Unfortunately fly-tipping, misuse of the facilities and anti-social behaviour are all problems which have been experienced at the sites. The closures should have no detrimental impact on residents as all recycling which would have been taken to these sites can be collected in the normal kerbside household collections."
