Changes to Building Control Services during the coronavirus crisis

Submission of Building Regulation Applications

We are accepting building regulation applications electronically by email and the existing online portals. Please do not send postal applications or you may have a significant delay.

We are unable to receive cheque payment. On submission of your application, you will be contacted either by email or telephone of how to pay.

Building Control Site Inspections

We are carrying out a mixture of virtual and physical site inspections and we will determine on a case by case basis whether a physical site inspection is appropriate. Please request your site inspection as usual and if possible give a day's notice.
Where a physical site inspection does take place, we require the site management and operatives to follow the Government's social distancing policy.

For certain inspections, including completion inspections, the case surveyor will discuss with you what options there are. These may have to be postponed if we need to access the property and we have any concerns either about our staff safety or the safety of others.

Dangerous Structures and Demolitions

Dangerous structures should be reported in the usual way. We are maintaining the same level of service.

We will process demolitions but we will not carry out a physical site inspection unless we deem it essential for safety reasons.
