Are you General Election ready?
With the General Election fast approaching, there is less than 6 weeks for residents to secure their vote.
The election will take place on Thursday 12 December 2019 and those who wish to have their say must be registered to vote by midnight on Tuesday 26 November.
Anyone who confirmed their details recently during the annual canvass will be registered to vote and therefore there is no need to re-register. However, if your home address has changed in the last few weeks you will need to re-register at your new property.
Joanna Swift, Acting Returning Officer for both Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils said: "There is a great deal of interest in the General Election and we want to make sure that everyone who is eligible to take part, is able to do so. If you're not registered, you won't be able to vote. The online registration service at www.gov.uk/registertovote is very easy to use and only takes a few minutes to complete, just make sure you have your National Insurance number to hand.
"If you're likely to be away on the day and will be unable to get to you polling station there is still time to arrange a postal or proxy vote but please don't leave this until the last minute.
"If you are unsure whether or not you are already registered or have other concerns, please give the Elections team a call on 01494 732014 or email email@example.com."
