Nominations open for 2019 Chiltern Youth Awards
Nominations for the 2019 Chiltern Youth Awards are now open.
We're looking for young people aged under 18 who live in, learn in or have a connection to the Chiltern District who deserve some recognition for their personal achievements or contribution to the community.
There's a broad range of award categories, covering everyone from young carers and volunteers to athletes, entrepreneurs, artists, musicians and environmental campaigners.
The award ceremony will take place on 14th March in Amersham and all nominees will be invited to attend.
Presenting the Sport and Healthy Lifestyle Award will be 15-year-old athlete Rafael Rhys Pollitt from Prestwood, who is one of the top fencers in the country and has been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Fencing Championships in Italy this year.
Rafael said: "Through my fencing I've had the opportunity to meet many amazing young people with drive and passion to achieve great things. The Chiltern Youth Awards intend to celebrate the achievement of these young people.
"Young carers, volunteers, entrepreneurs, sportspeople, musicians and artists; Chiltern District is full of amazing talented people and these awards intend to recognise all of them. Take a look at the award categories and if you know anyone that you feel deserves one of these awards please don't hesitate to nominate them.
"It's an amazing opportunity to show everyone what our generation can do."
Cllr Liz Walsh, Portfolio Holder for Healthy Communities, said: "I'm really looking forward to the Chiltern Youth Awards this year. It's so inspiring to see young local people achieving such fantastic things.
"We have a broad range of award categories and I would encourage everyone to think about who they can nominate. Let's show everyone how brilliant the young people of Chiltern are."
Deadline for nominations is Friday 1st February 2019.
