Community Cards is back for 2019

School children are gearing up to take part in this year's Community Cards scheme.

There are 23 schools participating for the chance to win prizes including a class trip to LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort.

The scheme is run by Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils Community Safety Team and supported by Thames Valley Police, Wycombe Women's Aid, R-U SAFE, SAFE!,  M for Money Credit Union, Bucks Fire & Rescue Service, Tesco, the Councils' Waste and Recycling Team and Natwest.

It's designed to encourage pupils to try out new activities and learn about their community.

By completing various challenges and activities pupils earn stickers and the class with the most stickers at the end of the scheme will win.

Each sticker relates to a different topic such as such as healthy lifestyles, money management, personal safety, cyber safety, citizenship and environmental issues.

Chiltern District Council Portfolio Holder for Healthy Communities, Cllr Liz Walsh, said: "Community Cards is now in its fifth year and the feedback we get from pupils and their teachers is always fantastic so we are excited to launch the scheme again for another group of children to benefit from.

"We are very grateful to our sponsors LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort, GLL and The Entertainer who are offering some great prizes for that extra bit of motivation. Good luck to all the pupils taking part."

South Bucks District Council Portfolio Holder for Healthy Communities, Cllr Patrick Hogan, said: "Community Cards is aimed at Year 6 pupils in order to equip them with skills and knowledge that will make their transition to secondary school later this year a smooth and happy one. The challenges and activities they will take part in are designed to boost their confidence - and of course a bit of healthy competition never goes amiss."

The 2019 scheme starts on Monday 25th March and runs until Monday 24th June.

The winners will be announced in July.
